About Winchester 150

Winchester 150 is an independent website about the history of Winchester firearms. It began around the company’s 150th anniversary in 2016 and continues as a place for long-form articles about the rifles and shotguns, the people who designed and used them, and the places where they were made and carried.

Independence

This site is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by Winchester Repeating Arms, Olin Corporation or any manufacturer, dealer or auction house. Trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify the products we write about.

How we write

• We prefer primary sources: factory records, catalogues, patents and period publications.
• We separate established facts from collector lore and say so when a story cannot be confirmed.
• We correct mistakes. If you spot one, please tell us through the contact page.

What we do not do

We do not sell firearms, give legal advice or value individual guns. For an appraisal, contact a qualified appraiser or an established auction house.
